grandma's 86th birthday

grandma turned 86 years old yesterday, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
every year, grandma wished that each and every of her family members will stay healthy and happy. this year however, she had a very different wish. she wants to be a great grandmother.

attentions were immediately focused on all her grandchildren especially those above 25 years old. *phew.

a family that stays together, works together!

binah, my maid of 16 months was sent back to indonesia after accusing my mum for beating her up and my dad for doing "something bad" to her. when asked by the agent to defined the meaning of "something bad", she couldn't come up with an answer. later, she revealed that she was being influenced by the neighbourhood's maid. you know, those maid who roams freely behind the backstreet every day and night.

after her ridiculous accusation, my parents even paid for her air tickets back indonesia. and mind you, they bought her air tickets from malaysia airlines and not those bladdy cheap air asia on promo tickets. though her empty headed-ness irritates us to the max, my family didn't even lay our hands on her nor did we ever mistreat her. imagine how lucky she is to have my mum preparing breakfast for her every morning!

for the past 13 years, my family have been fully relying on maids to do the house chores. right now, my family is facing some house chores crisis. dad has to wake up early every morning to wash the car, clean up the shits the doggies made in the toilet and porch, feed the dogs and sweeps the floor after a long and tiring day at work. mum played her part by fetching jaclyn to and fro tuitions, cook, wash the dishes and do the laundries. sigh, i would say that a life without a maid is definitely tough. i, on the other hand, couldn't help out much since i'm in kl. all i did during my weekend back in penang was to change my own bedsheets, helped my dad in sweeping the floor, bath my dogs, helped mum with the laundries and nagged jaclyn not to dirty up the house since we don't have a maid anymore.

at this rough moment, i'm glad that we're all united in keeping the house clean. i'm so proud of each and everyone of us. dad says "a family that stays together, works together!"

to mum with love

as children,

we can't comprehend or fully realise

the meaning of our mother's love,

how tender and how wise...

but as we grow, we understand

for we look back and see,

through older eyes and wiser heart

her love and loyalty...

it's these and many other things,

that make her grow more dear,

more admired and more appreciated,

with every passing year.

they held me up when i was down and

cheered me on in my times of happiness
they watched me fall, helped me stand up and

shaped me into a better person today
they dealt with the strings of hurtful words

I’ve hurled at them during my adolescence
they always believed in me,

especially at times when I refused to believe in myself
they showed me the precise definition of FAMILY
they loved me more than anyone else in the whole world

and i am everything i am today

because they loved me

*on a happier note, i've finished my last paper today. *tee hee. i'm packing. and i'm packing. and i'll be going back to penang tomorrow. YIPPEE!

happy 9th birthday, jaclyn!

heck! it's my sissy's 9th birthday today and i'm still stuck in kl having final exams. as for this year, i got her 9 strawberry shortcake cupcakes instead of a normal birthday cake. the design of the cake is seriously amazing! * special thanks to weennee.
