the thought of cooking some desserts had been wondering on my mind for quite sometime, but i'm unable to do so due to my hectic schedule for the past few weeks.
after a very depressing midterm paper yesterday, i've decided to cook "fu chuk yi mai" desserts to cheer myself up. no doubt i like that dessert alot, i don't know how to cook it! well, no one says that you need to know how to cook the food you like to eat. there's always an option for you to buy it from the stalls.
but i'm more than determined to try it out. i've browsed through several website for the recipe, called up my mum and aunt to ask about it and when i saw kevin online, i was so happy that i immediately nudged him for the recipe. knowing that i'm a complete failure when it comes to cooking, he gave me a simple version recipe.
here is his recipe:
1. boil the barley with water. not too much water, though. and with slow fire.
2. when the barley is fully cooked, add in soya bean milk.
3. let it boil before adding in gingko and "fu chuk"/ "tek kah ki".
4. boil for a few minutes will do.
1.boil the barley with water. not too much water, though.
removed the gingko seed
soaked the white fungus with water. (he didn't mention anything about white fungus, no?)
2. when barley is fully cooked, soya bean milk is added.
3. boiled it before adding in gingko, "fu chuk" and white fungus.
4. boiled it for 2 hours plus.
here's the outcome of my dessert congee.
my housemates and i had gone through an extremely hard time swallowing my horrible dessert congee, what's more kevin?
i swear he must be mentally cursing himself for being so greedy to be tempted by my dessert. ok..to give him credits, he rocks! afterall, he finished the whole big pot of it despite the awful taste! but of course with some red bull, water and sugar added.
thanks alot, kevin.
